Monday 2nd of January
This was the original day we were meant to film our footage. However, due to some technical difficulties, we had to postpone for Friday the 6th of January 2017.
Friday 6th of January
Around 4 pm we arrived at the setting where our film was taking place (house). We shot our footage later in the day after school because the lighting was more appropriate. In the winter it gets darker earlier. This was perfect for our film because it's set in the evening, so we didn't have to be cautious about lighting.
4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Began preparation e.g setting of location, camera, tripod, costume and makeup.
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM
We began filming with Ivy's part in her bedroom. This took the longest to film because we used a variety of camera shots and angles.
5:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Antagonist's special effect make- up using liquid latex, ink colour, and fake blood.
4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Filmed the last footage kitchen scene
Mise-en-scene
Make-up
This video above shows the step-by-step process we took to achieve the burnt/scarred look on our antagonist’s hand, using special effect make-up.
I particularly enjoyed doing the special effect make-up because it looks, realistic and turned out very successful.
Costume
The two images
show the costumes worn by out characters Ivy and the antagonist.
We had
difficulties, with Ivy’s costume, because we were unable to find plain pajamas
within our budget online. However, I came across the pajamas worn by Ivy on the
website Boux Avenue. They were on sale.
On the other hand,
our antagonist’s costume was easy to find and relatively cheap. Overall, the
costumes we pursued were suitable for our opening two minutes.
